I'm using Windows 7 x64 and I can't, for the life of me, get a PDF printer driver to install. I'm talking about software that prints to PDF, not software that prints PDF files. I have Acrobat 9 professional. The toolbar for printing to PDF works fine from word, but there is no actual printer installed into the OS. I've tried CutePDF (which doesn't install properly) and PDFCreator (which crashes when you try to print to it). Both of these utilities work fine under Vista.
Has anyone else had any luck? This is really the only issue that's keeping me from using Windows 7 normally. I found a solution that makes CutePDF work on W7 x64: Install CutePDF as usual. Ignore the error message.
Go to devices and printers, add local printer, use an existing port, and choose CPW2: (CutePDF Writer). It will then prompt you to choose a printer driver. I chose Generic->MS Publisher Color Printer. Any printer driver that's postscript (PS) seems to work to varying degrees.
The HP Color LaserJet xxx PS drivers worked, but put a blank page at the end and then an 'ERROR' message (but the rest of the PDF printed fine). This is probably due to HP extensions. Good luck!:).
