I just replaced a desktop with a Windows 7 64 bit machine, and attached our HP 1320 laser printer to it via USB. Windows 7 automatically set it up. The Win7 machine is connected to a LAN with a 32 bit Windows XP Thinkpad. I now cannot reach the laser printer from the Thinkpad.

The Windows 7 Compatability Centre links to HP's support site, which says there are no HP drivers for the HP 1320 for a 32 bit or 64 bit Windows 7 machine. How can I get the additional needed driver, and does it need to be on the Win 7 machine (where the printer is attached) or on the Thinkpad? I used to be able to print just fine from the Thinkpad.
Thank you, thank you. Hp Laserjet P1006 Firmware Update. With a location for the universal print driver, I was able to solve the problem.
Let me restate the issue so that others who may have the same problem can also resolve their problem. Problem: replaced XP desktop with Win 7 64 bit desktop. HP 1320 printer attached to this desktop. Win 7 desktop connected via LAN to XP Thinkpad. Thinkpad could use the HP 1320 network-connected printer when the desktop was an XP machine, and could not use it when the desktop was replaced with the Win 7 64 bit desktop. Win 7 automatically added the HP 1320 to the Win 7 machine using PCL5 Universal Print Driver.
In attempting to 'add printer' to the XP Thinkpad, I kept getting an error message that 'server doesn't have the correct print driver' and I had no luck successfully installing a print driver on the (Win 7) server. (remember, the error message said the server's print driver is not correct) Then I used the same link and moved to the Thinkpad, installing the XP version of the Universal Print Driver PCL5 set.
I got an error message, but the installation did work. I can now print with full functionality (two sided printing, etc) from both the Windows 7 desktop (printing locally) and the XP Thinkpad (printing via the LAN). Hp Pre Installed Programs Registry.

I have an HP Laserjet 1320 connected to a Mac. I'm trying to get it working under Win7 x64, but HP seems to be playing with the Windows 7 drivers for this printer. Yesterday, there was a link for Win7 x64 drivers on this page: But clicking on the link got you a 'File not found' error. Today, there's no link at all.
In the past, I was able to get this printer working with a generic Postscript driver (Apple Laserwriter 600 PS) under XP 64-bit. However, I've tried a couple of other basic Postscript drivers (Lexmark and HP), but can't seem to get the printer to print anything more complicated than a test page. When printing to the shared printer with a non-specific Postscript driver, the output just vanishes (except the test page, which came out OK with the Lexmark, but not HP driver). Does anyone know of a basic Postscript driver that will work with CUPS (the Mac printing system?) Or better yet, have a link to a 1320 Postscript driver? I'm pretty sure the PCL driver won't work with CUPS.
I'm using the Bonjour printing software from Apple to find and setup the printer.
