Ihave tried the 'plug & play' and the laptop is recognising the printer as new hard ware but it won't install that way I also have Win 7 64bit laptop and that has installed via USB and wirelessly perfectly and I have also used the e-print option on that laptop, so the printer works ok, but it is getting so annoying now trying to get it on the Xp Pro, we bought it for the XP pro so it's more important that it works on this OS.
